PG Scholarship for Professional courses for Scheduled Caste,Scheduled Tribe Candidates

The University Grants Commission invites applications for the award of scholarship for the year 2009-10 under the scheme of PG Scholarship for Professional courses for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Candidates.

This scheme has been initiated keeping in view the social background of the candidates from the deprived section of the society and to provide them opportunity to undertake postgraduate level studies in Professional subjects like Engineering & Technology, Management, Pharmacy etc. in Indian Universities/Institutions/Colleges.

The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to 1000 SC/ST candidates to pursue postgraduate level studies in Professional subjects at recognised Indian Universities/Institutions/Colleges.

The candidate must have obtained graduate degree in the relevant subject and obtained admission at Postgraduate level for regular full time course in any of the Professional subject in a recognized Universities/Institutions/Colleges. Candidates pursuing PG course in Professional subjects by correspondence or by Distance Education mode are not eligible to receive financial assistance under this scheme.

The tenure of award is for two/three years depending upon tenure of the Postgraduate course.

The financial assistance available under the scheme is as follows:

Courses - Scholarship - Contingency
M.Tech. @ Rs. 5,000/- p.m @ Rs. 15,000/- p.a
Others @ Rs. 3,000/- p.m @ Rs. 10,000/- p.a

The applications in the prescribed format given below, may be sent to the UNDER SECRETARY (SA-III) UNIVERSITY GRANTS COMMISSION, BAHADUR SHAH ZAFAR MARG, NEW DELHI – 110 002 duly forwarded through the Universities/Institutions/Colleges where the candiate is pursuing his/her Post Graduate course within one month from the date of issue of the advertisement.( Employment News Dt.28 Nov - 4 Dec 2009 )

The selection will be made with the help of an expert committee constituted by the commission. The decision of the commission in this regard will be final. Direct and Incomplete applications will not be entertained. For further clarification if any, the candidate may visit UGC web-site www.ugc.ac.in
