National Renewable Energy Fellowships for M.Tech, JRF, SRF and PDF


National Renewable Energy Fellowships

Applications in prescribed proforma are invited from eligible candidates for the National Renewable Energy Fellowship by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to pursue an M.Tech /JRF/SRF/ /PDF in the field of renewable energy.

Eligibility:

1. M.Tech Fellowships: Students admitted into an M. Tech program in any higher education institute/university/deemed university and planning to undertake project work in renewable energy are eligible to apply. Additional criteria include GATE qualification with 85 percentile and minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in B.E/ B.Tech/ M.Sc.

2. Junior Research Fellowships: Candidates must either have 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in B.E/ B.Tech with a valid GATE score of 85 percentile or must have 60% marks in M.Sc. (preference will be given to NET qualified candidate) and Candidate should have been admitted for Ph.D. in any branch of renewable energy in any higher educational institutes/universities.

3. Senior Research Fellowships: MSc, BE, BTech with minimum 60% marks and at least two years of post MSc, BE, BTech, research experience as evidence from fellowship/ associateship or traineeship and published papers in standard refereed journals OR ME, M.Tech or equivalent degree in Engineering/Technology with minimum 60% marks They should also be registered for PhD in renewable energy area.

4. Post Doctoral Fellowships: The minimum qualification is Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in the field of Renewable Energy.

Research Areas:

Life Sciences: Infectious and non-infectious diseases, bioinformatics, developmental biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, life-history evolution, immunology, circadian biology, animal behavior, behavioral ecology, evolutionary genetics, experimental evolution, chronobiology, behavior.

Material Sciences: Including Nano Sciences, energy and green materials.

Chemical Sciences: Solid state chemistry, theoretical/ computational chemistry, inorganic, physical, organic chemistry.

Physical Sciences: Condensed matter theory and experiment, statistical physics, semiconductor materials physics, biophysics, nano physics, polymer physics, organic electronics, computational material science, soft matter.

Engineering Sciences: Theoretical and computational fluid dynamics, flow of complex fluids, granular media, experimental fluid mechanics, thermal science, chemical engineering and physical metallurgy, non-linear dynamics including planetary dynamics.

UGC - NET - 2010 Notification

Eligibility: Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/ institutions recognised by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test. The Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Physically Handicapped (PH)/Visually Handicapped (VH) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.

Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this Test.

Age limit:

Junior Research Fellowship : Not more than 28 years as on 01.12.2009. A relaxation upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PH/VH categories and to women applicants. Relaxation will also be provided to the candidates having research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant/ related subject of post-graduation degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years, on production of a certificate from appropriate authority. Three years’ relaxation in age will be permissible to thecandidates possessing L.L.M. Degree. Total age relaxation on the above ground(s) shall not exceed five years under any circumstances.

Lectureship : No upper age limit.

RBI Young Scholars Award Scheme


The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched the RBI Young Scholars Award Scheme to generate interest and awareness about the Indian banking sector and RBI Under the Scheme, the RBI will select a maximum of 150 young scholars through a countrywide competitive examination and award a scholarship.

Selection test will focus on the role and functions of RBI and banks in India and will be held in English as well as in all major regional languages. Selected candidates will be required to work on projects in select offices of RBI for 2 to 3 months and will be paid a consolidated stipend of Rs. 7,500/- per month during the duration of die project. RBI will assist outstation awardees in boarding and lodging. The awardees shall have no right/claim for an appointment in the RBI. Any candidate who had qualified and worked at RBI under the RBI Young Scholar Award Scheme in any of the previous years need not apply again.

All students, between 18 and 23 years of age, currently pursuing their undergraduate studies in any subject under any recognised university in India, are eligible to take the competitive examination. There is no application fee. The selection test will be held on January 10, 2010 at various centres across India. The results of the selection test are likely to be announced in the middle of Match 2010.
