In association with Hitachi Ltd., Tokyo, Japan, THE HINDU invites applications for scholarships for technical training in JAPAN. The number of scholarships will be three. The terms and conditions are as follows:

* Candidates who must be Indian Citizens, should not have completed 30 years of age on 31-03-2010 and should be in possession of the minimum Degree of B.E., or B.Sc. (Engg.) or its equivalent from any recognized University. Candidates who have already had practical experience in the branches for which training is proposed to be given, will be given preference. Candidates with at least one year’s professional experience need apply. Those who were interviewed in previous years for the Scholarships need not apply again.

* The scholarships are tenable in Japan for principally six months commencing about July 2010. Trainees may have general training in one of the following product fields of Hitachi Ltd., (Hitachi) for example (1) Power Systems (2) Railway Systems (3) Industrial Systems (4) information and Telecommunication Systems, being subject to the convenience of each of Hitachi’s establishments. During the training, there will be special emphasis on environment-related and energy saving technologies.

* Selected trainees will be provided with return Economy Class air passage. Arrangements will also be made for free Boarding and Lodging for trainees in Japan and to defray all expenses for traveling in Japan which may be considered necessary for their training. In addition, each trainee will be paid a monthly fixed allowance to cover his personal expenses.

National Renewable Energy Fellowships for M.Tech, JRF, SRF and PDF


National Renewable Energy Fellowships

Applications in prescribed proforma are invited from eligible candidates for the National Renewable Energy Fellowship by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to pursue an M.Tech /JRF/SRF/ /PDF in the field of renewable energy.

Eligibility:

1. M.Tech Fellowships: Students admitted into an M. Tech program in any higher education institute/university/deemed university and planning to undertake project work in renewable energy are eligible to apply. Additional criteria include GATE qualification with 85 percentile and minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in B.E/ B.Tech/ M.Sc.

2. Junior Research Fellowships: Candidates must either have 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in B.E/ B.Tech with a valid GATE score of 85 percentile or must have 60% marks in M.Sc. (preference will be given to NET qualified candidate) and Candidate should have been admitted for Ph.D. in any branch of renewable energy in any higher educational institutes/universities.

3. Senior Research Fellowships: MSc, BE, BTech with minimum 60% marks and at least two years of post MSc, BE, BTech, research experience as evidence from fellowship/ associateship or traineeship and published papers in standard refereed journals OR ME, M.Tech or equivalent degree in Engineering/Technology with minimum 60% marks They should also be registered for PhD in renewable energy area.

4. Post Doctoral Fellowships: The minimum qualification is Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in the field of Renewable Energy.

Kishore Vaignanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) 2009

Applications are invited for KVPY FELLOWSHIPS for school and college students interested in research careers..

The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, offers attractive fellowships (Rs.4000 to Rs.7000 p.m) and contingency grants (equivalent of four months fellowships) to students studying in XI standard to B.Sc / Integrated M.Sc., and I/II year of B.E./B.Tech/B.Arch/MBBS. Selection to the program takes into account academic excellence and demonstrated interest in research. Selection is open to Indian nationals studying in India.

ELIGIBILITY:


BASIC SCIENCES

• Stream SA : Students enrolled in the XI Standard (Science subjects) during the academic year 2009 – 2010 and have secured a
minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination.

• Stream SB + 2 (SX) : Students enrolled in class 12 (+2) during the academic year 2009 – 2010 and aspiring to join undergraduate
program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc / Int. M.Sc) for the session 2010 – 2011 provided they secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination.

• Stream SB : Students enrolled in 1st year B. Sc / Int. M.Sc. during the academic year 2009 – 2010 and have secured a minimum of
60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII Standard Board Examination.
• Stream SP (Basic Sciences) : Students enrolled in XI/XII standard, I/II year (B.Sc./Int. M.Sc.) in Basic Sciences during the academic year 2009 – 2010 and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in the X & XII Standard Board Examinations. A hard copy of an original and creative science based research project is required along with the application.

ENGINEERING

• Stream SP (Engineering) : Students enrolled in I/II year B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. during the academic year 2009 – 2010 and have
secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in the X and XII Standard Board Examinations. Students enrolled in the II year B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. program must have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in the I year examination. A
hard copy of an original and creative science / engineering based research project is required along with the application.

MEDICINE
• Stream SP (Medicine): Students enrolled in I/II professional year of the MBBS program during the academic year 2009 – 2010 and
have secured 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII Standard Board Examination. Students
enrolled in the II professional year of the MBBS program must have secured 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in the I year examination .
A hard copy of an original and creative Bio-Medical project is required along with the application.

IOC Scholarships for Engineering, MBA, MBBS and ITI

Scholarships are allocated for Students of 10+/ITI, Engineering, MBBS & MBA Courses
Total number of scholarships: 450

For 10+/ ITI:

Distribution of 250 scholarships for 10+/ITI will be as under and based on location of the School/College/Institute where admission has been taken in the academic year 2009-2010.

For Engineering, MBBS and MBA courses:

200 scholarships will be for students pursuing 1st year of Engineering, MBBS and MBA courses on zonal merit basis. There will be only four zones, i.e., North, East, West and South for these three scholarships. J&K will be considered in North zone, North Eastern States and Sikkim will be considered in East and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Minicoy & Aminidivi Islands will be considered in South zone for Engineering, MBBS & MBA Scholarships. The candidates applying for scholarships in these three professional Streams must therefore quote North / East / West / South zones only (as applicable) in their case.

Eligibility: Students pursuing full time courses in these streams & studying in Schools/Colleges/Institutions/Universities recognized by MCI/AICTE/State Education Boards/ State Govt. / ICSC/CBSE/Central Govt./Association of Indian universities, shall be eligible to apply. The student should have bonafide admission in the 1st year of School/College/Institute/University in the academic year 2009-2010.
Age limit: Minimum 15 years and maximum 30 years as on 1.9.2009.

CSIR - UGC NET Notification

Joint CSIR-UGC Test For Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility For Lectureship (NET), December, 2009

CSIR will hold the forthcoming Joint CSIR-UGC Test for Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Lectureship (NET) on Sunday, the 20th December 2009. The Application Form and information Bulletin for this test will be available in the designated branches of Indian Bank and Oriental Bank of Commerce from 25.08.2009 to 23.09.2009.

For the test, the candidate will have the option to apply either through Application Form available in the aforesaid Bank branches OR apply ONLINE at www.csirhrdg.res.in from 25.08.2009 to 23.09.2009. The candidate desirous to apply online will be required to deposit the requisite Examination Fee in any of Indian Bank branches through `Bank challan` (only), Multiple application or fee submitted in any other mode will be summarily rejected. A candidate applying online has to submit the hard copy of the duly filled Online application to Exam Unit, HRDG within the stipulated time frame failing which their candidature will not be considered.
